Our Cages are designed and made by qualified welders and meet the requirements of the White Shark Safety Code of Conduct.
The cages are drifting, surface floating cages with a diameter of 1.3m. There is a freeboard above the water line of 300mm, which allows snorkellers to breathe whilst still in the confines of the cage.
The cages are attached to the boat with 2 ropes, and an additional rope is attached to the bottom of the cage for stability. The cage lies less than 1m from the side of the boat.
A minimum requirement of an Open Water One dive qualification is needed to enter the cage using scuba equipment.
• Non Divers may snorkel in the cage. This is easily and safely done by at least 50% of our clients.
Divers are submerged no more than half a meter under the water. Our cages have an access door on top of the cage for your safety as well as entry and exit.
Please note that as you are just under the surface of the water, travel by aircraft is not affected.
2 Divers will occupy the cage at one time. Air is supplied from a cylinder on the boat by way of a long air hose equipped with an octopus rig, i.e. two times DV's, one for each diver.
The divers enter the cage from the back platform or from the side of the boat, depending on the currents, and entry to the cage is from the top.
The divers are fully suited in a 5mm wetsuit, booties, gloves, weight belt and mask.
